Devil's hand leather coral (Lobophytum crassum)

   This is a species of soft coral. The colony is massive and leathery, with thick lobes extending from a central disk. The surface is covered with small retractile polyps. When open, the polyps are thin, whitish or translucent. The coloration varies from light brown and beige to greenish.
