Short description
The coloration is usually dark: black or dark brown (sometimes with lighter areas). There are 20–40 long, highly branched rays. The rays are flexible, curved, soft, densely covered with short "feathers," forming a voluminous "fan" or sphere. The central disk is small, almost invisible. On the underside are short cirri (hooked "legs") for anchoring to the substrate.
