Short description
The body is brown with 12 narrow dark brown transverse stripes. The caudal fin is dark brown, and the soft dorsal, anal, and pectoral fins are light. Males have a row of 5–6 backward-pointing spines on their sides, closer to the tail, while in females, this same area is covered with a dense tuft of hair-like bristles.
