Short description
The body is pale gray or light yellowish, with eight wide reddish-brown or dark brown stripes running along it. It has a large head and a large mouth with powerful, protruding fangs. In adults, these teeth are visible even with the mouth closed. There is a characteristic light (whitish) spot at the base of the tail. The caudal fin usually has a dark edge on the top and bottom.
