Short description
Coloration: the base color is olive-green or dark green, with narrow diagonal stripes of orange-brick color running across the body. The rays of the soft dorsal, anal, and pectoral fins, as well as the caudal fin, are orange. A black spot or spots cover most of the base of the caudal fin. The first dorsal fin has three stiff spines. When males reach sexual maturity, the orange stripes and spots between the mouth and eyes disappear.
