Short description
A yellow head with a dark, mustache-like area above the upper lip. The spherical eyes can move independently of each other. The base of the caudal fin and the lower part of the head are white. The large upper jaw contains two rows of teeth: four pairs in the outer row, three pairs in the inner row. The lower jaw contains a single row of three pairs of teeth. Prey hidden in the sand is retrieved using a powerful jet of water from its mouth. The fish is capable of turning over large boulders with its strong chin to retrieve hidden prey.
