Short description
The coloration is bright red, fading to yellowish on the belly. A noticeable whitish/silverish spot behind the eye. A tall scarlet dorsal fin and a long venomous spine on the gill cover. The anal and pelvic fins are yellowish. The caudal fin is clearly forked. The scales have silvery edges, creating a rippled appearance.
