Short description
The body is bluish in color, with a long, slender body and a pointed, serrated beak. The dorsal and anal fins are offset toward the caudal fin. The houndfish are fast and aggressive hunters that live near the surface of the water. In fish with this type of feeding, cannibalism often occurs in the form of intraspecific competition, with larger individuals eating juveniles. Tylosurus choram is not a "specialized" cannibal, it will readily consume a smaller member of its own species if it is within reach and of a comparable size.
