Short description
Adults are predominantly dark brown or black in colour. Juveniles up to 24 cm long have alternating black and white stripes on the sides of their bodies. The upper part of the body is black with 5 (4-7) white spots. The tips of both lobes and the middle part of the caudal fin are white. A vertical black stripe runs through the eye.
