The dorsal fins and tail are often yellowish or with blue stripes. Two long white barbels on the chin, often longer than the head, are present. The first dorsal and caudal fins are reddish-gray, the basal third or half of the second dorsal fin is black, and the dark pigment continues to the end of the last ray.
