Short description
The body is completely enclosed in a bony shell, except for a few small openings such as the mouth, eyes and gills. The color is pale gray to brownish, with a hexagonal reticulate pattern and irregular spots on the sides, especially along the lower edge of the carapace. The body is triangular in shape with a single spine at the tip of a strongly raised dorsal crest.
