Short description
Body, head and iris are red. The coloration can quickly change to silvery-white with a pattern of wide reddish stripes on the head and body or with a row of small dark spots along the lateral line. The fins are red to light pink with dark pigment on the membranes of the dorsal, anal and caudal fins. Sometimes the fins have a yellowish tint. The caudal fin is slightly notched or crescent-shaped.
