Short description
The body, head, and iris are red. The coloration can quickly change to a silvery-white with a pattern of wide reddish stripes on the head and body or with a row of small dark spots along the lateral line. The fins range from red to light pink, with dark pigment on the membranes of the dorsal, anal, and caudal fins. Sometimes the fins have a yellowish tint. The caudal fin is slightly notched or crescent-shaped. The soft part of the dorsal fin is above the spiny part and has an angular shape. The pelvic fins are noticeably longer and usually darker than in Priacanthus blochii.
