Short description
Fish is covered with white stripes alternating with red, maroon, or brown stripes. It has large venomous spines on its dorsal fin, as well as other venomous spines on its pelvic and anal fins. Red lionfish typically have 11 soft rays in their dorsal fin, while Indian lionfish have 10. Red lionfish often have longer pectoral fins and a more pronounced red coloration, while Indian lionfish may be more brown or gray. Pterois miles - the stripes are usually wider and less contrasting.
