Short description
The initial phase of Chlorurus sordidus is characterized by a pale coloration: the body is gray-brown or yellowish-brown with a white tail and spots. A distinctive feature is often a dark spot at the base of the tail and a yellowish area on the caudal peduncle. Larger specimens may have a number of irregular small light spots closer to the tail.
