Short description
This is a large, heavy marine gastropod mollusk with a conical, tower-shaped shell consisting of about 12 flat whorls. Its coloration is typically greenish-gray, brown, or yellowish, often with a mottled pattern. The base is flat or slightly concave, usually light in color (whitish or creamy), often blue-green with mother-of-pearl. A distinctive feature is the large teeth (protrusions) along the periphery of the whorls.
